Those simple words conveyed skyfuls of meanings

في انعطافات صوتها نغمة غاية في العذوبة

The inflections of her voice have an exceedingly sweet tone

عمل ما بوسعه لتحرير نفسه والآخرين من المشكلات والمخاوف

He did his best to free himself and others form problems and worries

تملكه اعتقاد جازم أن طلباته ستتحقق ودعاءه سيستجاب

He firmly believed that his requests will be fulfilled and his prayers answered

وقفت على شرفتها ورنت ببصرها إلى الأفق البعيد

She stood on her balcony and gazed into the distant horizon

حملت عيناها من الدهشة أكثر مما لكلماتها القدرة على التعبير

Her eyes held more amazement than her words could express

يشعر بقوة تحاول ثنيه عن بلوغ هدفه فيقاومها بعزم وإصرار

He feels a force trying to dissuade him from reaching his objective
And he resists it firmly and determinedly

الصداقة هي كالنبتة الغضة التي يتعين سقيها بماء المودة والاحترام المتبادل

Friendship is like a tender plant that should be watered
With the water of affection and mutual respect

كن مع الله ترَ الله معك

Be with God and you will find Him to be with you

فكرها كالمغناطيس يجذب إليها أشياء جميلة ومفيدة

Her mind is like a magnet that attracts beautiful and useful things to her

يمتلك إرادة صلبة لا تنكمش أمام لطمات الزمن

He possesses a firm will that doesn't shrink before the blows of time

إياك وصاحب السوء فإنه يحسن منظره ويقبح أثره

شحب وجهه ونضُبت حيويته وأحس أنه خائر العزيمة واهن القوى

And he felt that he was dispirited and debilitated

أمضت أيامها تحلم به وتأمل في أن تتمكن من لقائه

She spent her days dreaming of him and hoping to be able to meet him

صمد أمام تحديات الحياة

He stood firm in the face of life's challenges

راحت تستذكر الماضي وتعيش بعض أحداثه السعيدة

صور بديعة استثارت مشاعرها وجعلتها تحن للماضي السعيد

Superb images that stirred her feelings
And made her nostalgically remember the happy past

التمعت نضرة الربيع في محياها البديع

The freshness of Spring gleamed in her beautiful countenance

جمعت ما بينهما صداقة قوية لم تعبث بها النوازع الأنانية والأهواء الشخصية

A strong friendship existed between them
And was never tainted by selfish motives and personal desires

كان اللقاء الموعود أعز أمنياتها

The promised meeting was her most cherished wish

كنت أنصت إليها أحياناً وهي تعبر عن أعمق وأصدق أحاسيسها

Often I listed to her as she expressed her deepest and truest feelings

صفوف الأنوار الملونة أضفت بهجة خاصة على الحدث

غمرته أمواج من الغبطة وشعر أنه في ذروة الفرح

Waves of bliss engulfed him and he felt that he was at the peak of joy

فجأة تبدّت له رؤيا منذرة بالشؤم

Suddenly, he saw an ominous vision

لكنها لم تلبث أن تبددت كسحابة صيف عابرة

But soon it passed away as a sailing summer cloud
